Navigation FAQ
-
I'm unable to locate my school
Standard Product RangeNew Zealand has many schools, and we’d love to support them all! If you're unsure about your school's specific requirements, feel free to reach out to Cyclone for assistance or contact your school directly. You're also welcome to browse our standard product range.
-
Why is my school's product range limited?
Cyclone partners closely with many schools to ensure that the devices offered are fit for purpose and meet the specific needs of the learning environment. There’s strong evidence showing that when schools and parents work together, student learning outcomes improve significantly. By offering a focused selection of devices, we help support that collaboration and ensure students are set up for success.
Device FAQ
-
How do I know if the devices listed for my school are approved?
Once you’re viewing your school’s collection, look for the Parent Note - it will clearly indicate if the devices have not been approved by your school. If you don’t see a Parent Note, you can be confident that the devices are school -approved and suitable for your learner.
-
How long should my device last?
Most BYOD devices are selected to last around 3–4 years with regular school use, covering roughly 80% of a typical student’s education journey. However, the actual lifespan depends on how well the device is cared for. Good maintenance habits go a long way in keeping your device running smoothly for longer!
-
Are there minimum specifications my learner’s device must meet?
It’s always best to check directly with your school. This information is often available in the stationery list, on a dedicated BYOD page on your school’s website, or right here on your school’s collection page.

Repair my deviceCyclone has you covered. Our dedicated break-fix team, along with our network of trusted repair partners, works to get your device repaired as quickly and efficiently as possible. To help speed up the process and protect your device from damage, we recommend investing in protective accessories or material damage cover.
-
What's the difference between warranty & material damage?
Warranty covers manufacturer faults, issues that occur due to defects or problems outside of anyone’s control.
Material or accidental damage cover is more like insurance. It protects against a wider range of incidents, such as drops, spills, or other physical damage.
Always check your manufacturer’s policy to understand what’s included in the coverage you’re purchasing.
-

Some schools have on-site IT teams available to support students directly. No matter your situation, Cyclone is always here to help, whether it’s installing software, setting up your device, or troubleshooting any technical issues. Reach out, our team will be happy to assist!
-
Do I need to purchase extra accessories?
While not always required, it’s strongly recommended to purchase accessories that help protect and support your device such as a sturdy case, bag, or an extra charger.
Some schools even list these as mandatory, as they can significantly reduce downtime if the device is accidentally dropped or damaged. Investing in protection now can save time and stress later!
